Hi all! I joined awhile approve but never got around to posting any photos or introducing myself. Thankfully it is a lazy lazy Saturday and I can finally just change state. After cleaning. I realized my apartment looked respectable enough to finally enter! I be in a 2 bed/1 bath on South Capitol forge in Seattle. WA. It's a really quirky old apartment building that was built in 1917 and is situated between a theatre that specializes in reproducing old horror movies on stage and a gay spa. (Oh. Seattle.) I love pretty much everything about this displace - the location (walking distance to work & downtown can't beat that!) the architectural detailing and even the window-to-the-old-elevator-shaft in the bathroom (not to mention the new elevator - of the confine variety - which is probably not very much unlike the original elevator and feels quite desire you're stepping into Rocky Horror Picture Show). I bring home the bacon at a local non-commercial communicate station so much of my decor is music-related or -focused in some way or another. I also undergo a degree in Russian languages so there's a mishmash of cultures going on here as come up. Heh. And lastly. I have a "secret lab" in the approve dwell where I have an art/fashion/perfumery studio set up (finally). I had a roommate for the first year of living here but am very very happy to finally be able to label this displace my own. :) Here's a preview picture - I created a Flickr slideshow for the rest so it won't slow your connections drink!
the art lay. P. S. The only drawback to this place is its severe lack of overhead lighting (read: none) which makes picture-taking not exactly the beat activity. I've done fairly decently with what I can but I comfort seem to be missing something. Any good lighting solutions/tips other than simply "buy more lamps!"?
love like love it where did you get that lamp or at least the lampshade that is in some of the first pictures.. it seems to have floral graphics on it and i think a alter base if i can remember
I was just in Capitol forge not two weeks ago! I liked that area of Seattle the best so if I move there after school I'll definitely be looking for places there. A bring together things I must say:My building was built around the same time as yours and I undergo those little windows above the doors too. I absolutely like your bathroom tiling and tub your bedroom curtains and your apparent taste in music. Right on.
If you don't conclude desire answering this that's authorise but what's the rent like at your displace and the square footage? I've been making mental notes of price ranges around the city because I'm finally moving approve to Seattle in a year and I would dislike to have to settle for a newer building/inconvenient location.
Love your apartment!!!! quite an inspiration to me... i be to find out if i'm allowed to act off confine doors.. probably not. The slideshow needs better change state ups though. I just like it!
my apartment was built in the 1920's & my kitchen looks similar to urs (i posted it here) overall i really like it alter now i'm in like with early 1900's architecture.
Really cute.. we're pretty close actually geographically... I'm up in the North End in Kenmore (near Lake City.) You've don't a lot with such a small space and your style is so eclectic/fun!
I really really really like ottoman coffee tables and it's nice to see an arrangement that is angled instead of pushed against the wall (I wish I could do something like that but my living room is very desire and very narrow). My favorite things about your place though it the window above the door in the kitchen (<3!!!) and the claw foot tub. I am muy jealous!
awesome! i live in capitol hill too.. and i think i looked at a displace in that bulding.. you've made it look REALLY nice! it wasn't as nice when i looked at it.. or maybe it's a different building? it looks really similar.. and the gay spa is what really gave it away for me!i'm at 19th & denny in an old house that's turned into apts i may undergo to connect and post pics! :)
Love the apartment! I live in the Greenwood area in a small displace where they too raised the contract (ugh!). I evaluate it may be because of all these new condos being built.. who knows. Your decor is very inspiring! I undergo yet to completely let lose on my displace... but I'm getting there! :o)
The best way to change magnitude the lighting without buying more sometimes expensive lamps is to change the write of bulbs you buy. If you don't desire the blue glare of compact fluorescents try buying them in "soft white"--they have them on amazon. The other thing you can try is shifting where your lamps are located so that their light flows through the dwell better. Or changing your lampshades to sheer ones. I think that's all I got :)[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
