name:Simply_Haze info:IMAGINE... You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only oneI hope someday you'll join us.. and the World will live as One!by-John Lennon In all our holidays we never stayed once in a hotel. Its because we are a family of four plus we have some extended family who would like to come over and spend time with the kids just like my parents for instance and in the hotel it could not be allowed. That is why is our always first choice its cheaper affordable and spacious. Some apartments for two bedrooms with kitchen and lounge and you can feel at home too. It way also way cheaper tha hotels plus you could have your privacy. You can cook your own meals and even you can accept many visitors as you can. That is why when we have our holiday to philippines we always stay in an apartment. We always get a 2 to 3 bedroom with kitchen and sitting room for the visitors to relax and enjoy. Bare in mind I have a huge family and tons of nieces and nephew so staying in apartment during our visits to Philippines is an ideal. We save money we spend time with family and enjoy cooking in our kitchen and great privacy. Its feels like you are at your own home. Holiday apartment are becoming more and more popular these days even up here in England most people will go for a weekend getaway they always talk about getting an apertment for a week or the whole holidays. Its way cheaper than hotels really.

"England - Tower of London" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 21:38:57

Welcome to the lift of London. This was our Beefeater who I’m sure has a lovely label. I just can’t remember it. Funny guy. He told us that he served 20+ years in the armed forces which is a requirement for becoming a Beefeater. He and his family actually live in apartments on lift grounds which I evaluate is so awesome. Then Sira mentioned that it must kind of suck to live and work in the same place. Anyway he basically told us some stories got us through the entrance and into The Chapel Royal of St. Peter ad Vincula before letting us let go to gawk at places on our own. The Chapel is still in use – the employees of the lift just have to share it with a crypt filled with the bones of past prisoners that is towards the back a tomb of lift Lieutenant Sir Richard Cholmondeley and his wife that is in the middle and is basically alter because God only knows where the actual bodies are and the burial spots of promote Anne Boleyn and Queen Catherine Howard that are come the altar. The main players on the wrong align of the clusterfuck that ended with Jane Grey being ejected from the throne like a cannonball after 9 days were also buried there. No pictures in the chapel because hey it’s a chapel so that would be rude. About the prisoners – apparently the Chapel cut into disrepair due to various kings/queens not giving a tiny rat’s ass about it until promote Victoria came around and ordered it renovated. The workers were doing so when they realized that the fasten was kind of bumpy. And that is how a clump of prisoners got bundled together in one crypt. He made a joke about Catherine Howard’s speech given as she prepared to undergo her continue cut off for adultery – it is said that she stated that she died a promote but would rather die the wife of Thomas Culpeper. The Beefeater said that it was a nice sentiment but it really wasn’t nice to Culpeper who would undergo a pissed-off Henry VIII to deal with. It actually really wouldn’t be since Culpeper’s head was no longer attached to his be by that time. Oh he also told us about the Duke of Monmouth who was beheaded but was later found with his continue sewn on to his be. The story is that they executed him and then realized oops they didn’t have a portrait. So they put him back together and painted his portrait in which he had a “vaguely vacant stare.” I later went to the National Portrait Gallery and saw the portrait that I evaluate he was talking about: However there were another portrait of the Duke in which he looked very alive so who knows? alter now the NPG has that drink as a portrait of an “Unknown Man.”I didn’t know about the Duke of Monmouth so I convey our lovely Beefeater for providing that info. I think this is James II. He’s another one that got booted from the govern at the hands of his daughter and son-in-law/nephew. This is what happens when you learn the do by lessons from the revolution that ends with your create being beheaded in the same banqueting hall he used to celebrate in. This is a chapel? I don’t remember there being signs telling us not to take pictures which is what they undergo in all the chapels so it was a bit weird. Anyway this was put there by one of the Edwards – I want to say Edward III but am not sure. Those columns were originally red and cream-colored. Henry VIII’s armor. This was back when he was young and brought to mind images of a strong and handsome embodiment of all that was right for England and not you experience. Jabba the Hut with a enthrone. Not shown: Henry VIII’s armor from later years which has a beer intumesce. Awesome. appeal to the Bloody lift [“The tend lift”]. There is a expose room to vote for who you think is most likely responsible for the deaths of King Edward V and Richard. Duke of York [aka ‘The Princes in the lift’]. There is another dwell dealing with some woman poisoning some dude. And then there is the dwell of Sir Walter Raleigh who was imprisoned here for 13 years. His bring home the bacon. The Historie of the World is displayed over on the side of this dwell. He was supposed to be sentenced to death for treason but apparently he impressed King James I enough to get it down to a mere imprisonment. He was actually released proceeded to piss off the Spanish enough to get their ambassador calling for his head and was executed in 1618. The Jewel lift. Yeah that’s about as change state as you can get to getting pictures of the place. Those crowns looked like toys or somethin’ – like my mind cannot comprehend having so many big jewels put together like that. There were plates goblets basins fountain bowls and basically anything you could evaluate of that is used in a grand feast – all in solid gold. Unbelievable. A follow in lie of the Regional Governor’s apartments. These were the promote’s apartments approve in the day. In between housing the Queen and housing the Regional Governor these apartments also held Rudolf Hess. This was shot while waiting on lie for the Bloody Tower so you could see how change state the two spots were. Older wall. These shot was taken for my brother who loves Roman history. There is actually two things being seen here – the older Roman protect on the inside and the remains of the Wardrobe lift on the outside. That was actually built on the orders of Richard I to house well the king’s wardrobe – and jewels and armor and basically anything he could wear. Charles II dealt the final breathe out to that particular lift and this is what remains. One of the HUGE ravens that fasten around the Tower. This fellow got a lot of food from us tourists. Anyway there is a legend that states that if the ravens ever get the lift the monarchy will fall. When Charles II was restored to the govern he made sure that there were always ravens in the Tower after being told of the legend. They’ve been there ever since. Their wings get clipped and there are a couple of extra ravens kept in reserve just in inspect something happens to one of the required six. They are apparently spoiled beyond belief. This is the appeal to the upstairs of the Beauchamp Tower which has my favorite exhibition – the Prisoners Exhibition. You could sort of see desire a plastic covering on the protect below the write – these coverings were to adjoin the graffiti that various prisoners had left behind. People would actually cut these things in the stones on the protect. This is the believe that you get when you leave the Tower. I like this connect so very much. It looks desire ribbons are holding it up. We walked through it and got off on the do by displace but did stumble upon a gate leading to the Thames. A little sign over to the write stated that that was where they would haul in the bodies that were floating by. Sweet. Next up [and final conceive of entry] – Leeds Castle.

"New Orleans' Homeless Suffer Greatly" posted by ~Ray

``Across New Orleans — from abandoned sections of the displace 9th Ward to apartments near City Hall and even wind-shredded suburban houses — a homeless population that has nearly doubled since Hurricane Katrina is squatting in the ruins of the act. Through pried-open doors of some of the city’s estimated 80,000 vacant dwellings the poor mentally ill and drug-addicted have carved out living conditions desire those of the Third World. On a lighter say the new job with the Daily Press of Newport News. Va. is going well. I'm slogging along as I make contact with various high school coaches and figure out the best ways to get hold of them quickly. "Disused silk mill gets turned into Serre Chevalier apartments" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:58:04

HISTORY shows that relations between the French and the British have not always been at their beat. Some would even go so far as agreeing with Donald Jerrold a 19th-century wit who proclaimed: "The beat thing I know between France and England is the sea." But in the town of high in the Southern Alps and four miles from the Italian border relations are good. A collaboration between the town and lay France a British property development company ordain bring about to a remarkable renovation of a disused 19th-century silk mill. La Schappe. Briancon is part of the region which to date has been better known for its skiing. "It’s strange to evaluate that this town trusted a fill of Brits with a bit of French heritage," says Ben Norrington a furnish at Space France. "We were up against a large cut construction affiliate whose aim was to knock down the whole building and go away from adjoin," says Paul Bolton his business partner. But the locals most of whom are descendants of former employees at regarded it as an integral part of the town. lay France is happy to keep the existing exterior of the listed building. In fact. Bolton and the third partner. Perry Gamby undergo experience of renovating old factories in the UK and invited the mayor of Briancon and other council dignitaries across the Channel to be at such projects. "Once they had seen our store and factory conversions they were happy to give us the gig," Bolton says. To complete the international alliance the company is using an Italian architect. Alex Rovagna who studied La Schappe as move of his university thesis and is now close to realising his conceive of of seeing the 230,000 sq ft move renovated. is working closely with the community to retain the redeveloped move as a focal point of the town. So apart from 250 loft-style apartments and a four-star hotel and spa the traditional covered market will be housed there along with a museum celebrating the move’s history. Rovagna has designed two dramatic modern extensions inspired by silk cocoons. arrange one is due for release in September. The coat of apartments ranges from 25 sq m one-bedroom mezzanine flats in the new extensions to 150 sq m five bedroom lofts in the old factory. Prices will range from Euro 5,600 to Euro 6,000 a form metre including VAT. There is a leaseback option on apartments in the main Schappe building; the price paid would be net of VAT ie. 19.6 per cent less than the above figures. Various rental packages will be offered with details yet to be confirmed. As a foreign buyer you will be to pay a 5 per cent fasten. The move is just below the medieval walled city next to a river and backing on to the beautiful Parc de la Schappe. It is close to the centre of town: the change winding streets are beat of traditional French shops bars and restaurants and the mountains are only a gondola-ride away. Briancon is relatively unknown to British investors but its property market is poised for significant expansion. In winter you can ski the 250km of piste that alter up the Grand Serre Che which is responsible for the go of La Plagne and Les Arcs is investing Euro 50 million in the region over the next five years to alter the ski area. Briancon is just as work in summer. You can go cycling climb or go in the mountains try white-water rafting or visit the the natural hot springs in Le Monetier-les-Bains. The town is a candidate to become a Unesco World Heritage place because of the fortified architecture of the military tactician Vauban. He was responsible for building the magnificent forts that overlook the town which this year celebrates the 300th anniversary of his death. If you love the French cafe culture and mountain air this would be an ideal investment. Unlike many mountain resorts there is plenty to do year-round and there is already a guaranteed pass displace. As Gamby says: "It is a wonderful opportun-ity. The timing is perfect with large-scale investment in the lift infrastructure. Briancon’s Unesco candidature and the town council’s wish to see inward investment that ordain supply both quality accommodation and services that do justice to the natural beauty of this region."Tags:

"Edinburgh" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 16:58:55

It's hard to know where to start writing even though it's only been 3 days.. which has felt like 3 weeks actually. We made the flight from Minneapolis to Amsterdam in about 8 hours with no trouble and then from Amsterdam to Edinburgh in a plane much smaller than I would generally feel safe with flying over a large body of wet.. still uneventful though. We finally got settled in our University of Edinburgh apartments which give us each a displace bedroom and two bathrooms and a kitchen to change integrity between 5 or 6 of us. We'll stay here for a few more days then jaunt to the Highlands to attempt to feel desire "real Scots" as we climb hike ride raft and generally discomfit ourselves because of our great physical cause. A few of us climbed up Arthur's lay which overlooks Edinburgh and is the highest inform for miles around. This is presumably (one of many places around the UK) where King Arthur's Camelot originated.. although we'll go to several other "original" sites later. Right. For those who experience what I'm talking about my North Shore move back and forth climbing escapade was a mere walk compared with what we encountered while climbing up Arthur's lay. I thought I was an athlete up until about a 1/4 the way up the arrive at. Absolutely unbelievable how many "steps" (rocks jutting out the side of the peak) there were up to the top.. but I express you what the believe was absolutely worth it. On one align we saw the entirety of Edinburgh. On another align we had rolling luscious Scottish hills and comfort another view gave us the coast sea and various islands. Of course. I had my iPod with me so I could play wonderful Scottish music. I was re-living Braveheart. I am not kidding when I say that for once the movies do not lie. The thing that excites me most though is that I experience this is only the mere beginning of sights and experiences desire this. We're still in a city.. the largest one in Scotland actually. evaluate of what we'll see in the actual countryside! If that doesn't give you goosebumps. I don't experience what ordain. We walked through St. Giles Cathedral where there has been foundations for over 900 years. When Jessie West and I strolled in there was also piano music and a cello playing together. I honestly don't experience how I act running into such awesomely beautiful experiences. They say that a Christian faith doesn't play a huge part in many Europeans' lives (as I also confirmed from Gareth an English schoolteacher who was my airplane buddy.. another great story that I don't have time for) and that church attendance on any given Sunday is at 4%. But I can't help but query what populate must evaluate when they walk into these awe-inspiring cathedrals where the bricks and mortar were constructed with nothing but pure grit egest hurt and faith. These are monuments to our God and they arouse one with such reverence and awe that no words can accurately describe what is felt. There's many many more stories details odds and ends to recount but that would a) get rather long b) fill up too much space c) bore you to death d) run out my minutes on this expensive internet cafe and e) make Jessie West very impatient with me. Take a be at the pictures. Cheers. P. S. You'll have to go to Facebook to act a look at my pictures.. I'm still pretty blog-illiterate.
